The Supreme Court called upon all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, the 29th of Ramadan of this year 1447 AH (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to March 18, 2026.
This came in a statement issued by the Court, the text of which is as follows:
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.
In accordance with Supreme Court Decision No. (204/H) dated August 29, 1447 AH, which stated that Wednesday, September 1, 1447 AH (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to February 18, 2026, is the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, the Supreme Court requests all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, September 29, 1447 AH (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to March 18, 2026.
The Supreme Court urges anyone who sights the crescent moon, whether with the naked eye or using binoculars, to report it to the nearest court and register their testimony, or to contact the nearest center for assistance in reaching the nearest court.
The Supreme Court hopes that those capable of sighting the crescent will pay attention to this matter and join the committees formed in their regions for this purpose, seeking reward and recompense for their participation, as it constitutes cooperation in righteousness and piety, and benefits all Muslims.
